‘Equals Pi’ – Similar to Jean Michel Basquiat Painting of the same name
Abstract Expressionism
1.5m x 1.5m
This painting is a favourite and has a great story. The original Jean Michel Basquiat ‘Equals Pi’ was in a private collection for many years and, as such, never included in the numerous Basquiat exhibitions whilst living and since his passing in the late 1980’s.
It has sometimes been referred to as the “Tiffany’ painting as some suggest that the Tiffany Blue was the main colour used.
Back in 2021 – Tiffany (Under Louis Vuitton’s, LVMH ownership) acquired the painting and used it in a large advertising campaign using the very successful musicians Jay Z and Beyonce. The campaign featured in magazine and digital form, including large billboards and the actual painting was then installed in one of the Tiffany New York flagship stores.
As a favourite a similar painting was produced for personal enjoyment.
